Some of you may have noticed a new DigiXstream OTA Update ( Version 20160512 ) released a few days ago for the DX4 Plus models. Version 20160512 is a significantly major update and facelift to the DigiXstream Android interface however, with any major update, bugs sometimes need to be ironed out. You should be aware that DigiXstream OTA Updates are almost never mandatory. When performing an OTA Update on any and all DigiXstream models you will lose any stored files and settings on your unit (including the DigiXstream Shop HD Backgrounds our DigiXstream Shop installs) and everything else will need to be setup from scratch again.
It’s important to note that there are a few bugs with the latest OTA that need to be worked out so please be patient. Particularly with restoring any personalization after the box is powered off and then back on. Our skilled DigiXstream developers and working hard on fixing that for you now. I could take a while but it will be fixed asap.
What is the difference between a fully loaded DigiXstream box, and a fully setup DigiXstream box?
- Fully Loaded is just a fancy way of saying it’s got everything in it (as they all come standard from the manufacture). Apps and Addons are all loaded, but not setup.
- These units will require a setup process before you can enjoy them, and you are completely on your own. No professional help ever, unless DigiXstream Shop tech support is ordered ala-carte.
- Fully Setup means your unit will arrive fully setup, and ready to plug and play;
- most importantly, these ‘fully setup’ DigiXstream Android Streaming Media Player’s from our DigiXstream Shop are the only units that come with free tech support included.
All fully setup DigiXstream’s are also fully loaded, but not likely the other way around.
This topic is being discussed due to a common misunderstanding that many new DigiXstream customers we speak with appear to have. We understand where much of the confession stems from. Some DigiXstream resellers will often stress that the box is ‘fully loaded;’ when in fact ALL DigiXstream boxes are fully loaded… What most everyone really wants are the ‘fully setup’ units. Big difference!

The full setup from our shop isn’t as much about the setup itself as much as it is about the free DigiXstream Shop tech support that it comes with.
Beware of 3rd party resellers who promise free DigiXstream support with a DigiXstream purchase. At best you will receive poor service from an unauthorized, uneducated 3rd party rep; if you are even lucky enough to get their so called support on the phone. If you get them on the phone once it’s a darn miracle, get them on the phone more than once and I’m sure that hell will have froze over. We say this largely based on the feedback we have received from the public over the past 2 years.
We love representing and supporting DigiXstream Android TV boxes, but it is always a bit disheartening to have to inform someone that they didn’t order their DigiXstream from our DigiXstream Shop, so they do not get the benefits of such without paying extra for it. To ensure your friends and loved ones don’t make this mistake, please consider sharing this post with them.

DigiXstream Shop technical support staff is aware of a major issue with the Kodi Media Center. We are working hard to resolve this issue. This issue is not limited to only our devices, but is causing problems with Kodi worldwide. The culprit is in one of the core operating features that runs in the background of Kodi.
DigiXstream and Shop are always striving to provide you with the best product that is the most user friendly device and interface. We have pushed out a new app to help with clearing and resetting the functionality of the Kodi Media Center and your device. Please follow the following steps to clear out the issue at hand.
1.) From the home screen select Apps or simply press the Green button on your remote.
2.) Scroll down the list of apps until you see the new tech support app. It has a box with Super TS in it and below the icon it reads Super Tech Support. Select it and press OK on your remote.
3.) First thing you should do is select option 5.
You need to be on the latest firmware. If there is an available upgrade, then you must do that upgrade. When given the option, make sure you select both clear data and cache. This is very important.
If the OTA screen says that there are no updates then press the Return button on your remote. It is up and to the right of the OK button on the standard remote.
4.) The next option you will need to select on the Super TS screen is Option 1. You should reset the Media Player. This clears the data and cache in Kodi. This is important because we want to get rid of the bad code.
5.) Once that is complete then you need to ReInstall the Media Player. Select option 2 and press OK. This will install a fresh version of Kodi. This may take a few minutes. Be patient.
6.) When it is complete press the home button on your remote.
7.) Back at the home screen press the red Kodi button on your remote. There may be a bit of a delay when you first open Kodi. This is normal.
8.) Once in Kodi select Video AddOnns. If your setup shortcut, otherwise known as !OnlyWizard is not there then press the red Kodi button twice. This will take you out of Kodi and bring you right back in. Go back to Video AddOns and your setup shortcut should be there. If for some reason it is still not there, make sure you check your internet connection.
9.) Select your Setup Shortcut and select the options you wish to have and allow it to run. This may take some time due to server load, so please be patient.
10.) Once it is complete you will be prompted to press the red Kodi button twice.
11.) Give the Kodi Media center a few minutes to fully load and then you will be ready to enjoy your streaming media player again.

For all you experienced DigiXstream users out there, you’ll be happy to know you will no longer need to use a clean wizard or an adult wizard; or any other wizards. Like magic, we have combined them all into one. Namely, the “!Only Wizard.”
The “!Only Wizard” will now replace the “Digi Wizard.”
To get it, you just need to close KODI and reopen it (or simply refresh KODI by clicking the red KODI button on your remote twice). Then find the “!Only Wizard” add-on inside of your KODI add-ons. Then you’ll need to select !Only Wizard with the OK Button on your remote. It will then ask you if you would like to update now, highlight Yes and press OK on your remote. You will then be asked if you would like to like to download and install the Adult Add-ons. If you select Yes, you’ll be asked to confirm that you are over the age of 18. If you select NO on either of those questions the Wizard will install only the standard core Add-Ons.
The !Only Wizard will take some time to go through multiple steps. When it’s complete you will need to press the red Kodi button twice to refresh. Let the box set for about five minutes in order to complete any Add-On updates necessary.
Right now this on all of our DigiXstream Android TV Boxes however, in the near future, the DX4 PLUS Android TV Boxes will have a special Wizard unique to that model.
PS.) The “!Only Wizard” is not in your addons after refreshing KODI, you may need to do an OTA update on your unit. Please be aware that doing an OTA Update will wipe your DigiXstream Box clean and you will need to set KODI and everything back up from scratch again. The internet download speed is the number one determining factor as to how well your DigiXstream box will stream content. Our DigiXstream boxes work on as little a 5 mbps, BUT for an ‘optimal experience’ we suggest having at least 15 mbps, preferably 20 mbps or better going to your DigiXstream Android TV Box. 15 mbps and better should stream just about any HD ‘prerecorded content’ available on the box. For ‘live streaming’ you will want your download speed to be in at least the upper 20’s or better to avoid buffering. Your streaming media player will require the most internet juice and work the hardest when streaming live content for you. (as opposed to pre-recorded)
We find that many of our new customers were not receiving the proper internet speed that their internet company charges them for, until we help bring it to their attention and coach them on how to improve their download speeds. Sometime it requires a new modem, sometimes it requires swapping from WiFi to Ethernet. Sometimes it requires a power cycle. Sometimes it requires you calling your internet company to send a tech out, or upgrade your plan if necessary.
All and all you want to make sure you are getting either exactly, or very close to what you are paying for. If you pay for 60mbps download and are only getting 30mbps while hardwired in, then you are getting short changed. If you are on WiFi, there are all kinds of other factors that can cause that much lost and it may not be anything wrong with your internet, you may just want to consider swapping to Ethernet instead if possible.
Ethernet is always the best option if possible, and if you don’t mind the extra wire. This is because with WiFi, you will lose much of the download speed due to the air space shared with other devices, and objects in the way that can easily disrupt the signal.
Either way, whether you’re connected through Ethernet or WiFi, it is fairly common to need to powercycle your modem now and then to keep it at it’s full potential. This is as easy as unplugging your modem from the wall for 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in and allowing it to power back up. How would you know when to do this? Anytime you suspect that your DigiXstream box is not streaming content as good as it used to. When you notice a streaming issues, it’s always a good idea to do a speedtest on your DigiXstream box. If you discover that you are not getting the speeds that you usually receive, then you may just need to powercycle your modem. If the power cycle does not help, it may be a good idea to contact your internet provider and bring it to their attention so that they can improve it for you on their end.
It’s also important to note that doing a speedtest on any other device besides your DigiXstream Android TV Box will not provide you with the same test results. Even if you happen to be standing in front of your DigiXstream Streaming Media Player. This is because if you use a smartphone or laptop to do the speedtest, it’s the difference between doing a test on an average $1000 device, vs a $300 to $400 devise. Your phone or laptop may show a slightly better reading, but the reading on the DigiXstream box is the one you want to pay the most attention to.
Now that you know the importance of internet speed going to your Android HD media streamer, you can decide if your box needs some improvements in that area and now you know how to go about fixing that. If you live in an location that does not have strong internet speeds and it’s affecting your user experience, you can pause a movie or show for a few mins to allow the buffering to catch up before hitting play again, or you can select a more standard definition stream which doesn’t require so much internet juice. Those are the workarounds.

It’s surprising how many tech support calls we receive from 3rd party purchases who tell us that they have been watching videos trying to figure out how to set up and use the DigiXstream box to its potential, and they often get themselves in a big messes that they need help out of. This is because the videos they watch do not apply to our DigiXstream boxes, or are outdated (which happens very quickly) due to frequent changes in our industry. The beloved Wes Craven, famed maestro of horror known for the Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream franchises, died Sunday after a battle with brain cancer. He was 76.
Craven, whose iconic Freddy Krueger character horrified viewers for years, died at his home in Los Angeles, his family announced. Survivors include his wife, producer and former Disney Studios vice president Iya Labunka.
Craven was a longtime summer resident of Martha’s Vineyard, where he moved permanently three years ago before returning to L.A. for work and health reasons.
Craven claimed to have gotten the idea for Elm Street from living next to a cemetery on a street of that name in the suburbs of Cleveland. The five Nightmare on Elm Street films were released from 1984-89 and drew big crowds.
Similarly, Craven’s Scream series was a box-office sensation. In those scare-’em-ups, he spoofed the teen horror genre and frequently referenced other horror movies.
Craven’s first feature film was The Last House of the Left, which he wrote, directed and edited in 1972. A rape-revenge movie, it appalled some viewers but generated big box office. Next came another film he wrote and helmed, The Hills Have Eyes (1977).
Craven re-invented the youth horror genre in 1984 with the classic A Nightmare on Elm Street, which he wrote and directed.
He conceived and co-wrote Elm Street III as well, and then after not being involved with other sequels, deconstructed the genre a decade after the original, writing and directing Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, which was nominated for best feature at the 1995 Spirit Awards.
His own Nightmare players, Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp and John Saxon, played themselves in that film.
Between Scream 2 and Scream 3, Craven, offered the opportunity to direct a non-genre film for Miramax, helmed Music of the Heart (1999), a film that earned Meryl Streep an Academy Award nomination for best actress in the inspirational drama about a teacher in Spanish Harlem.
“We had a very difficult time getting an audience into a theater on my name,” he said in an interview with writer-director Mick Garris in October. “In fact, we moved toward downplaying my name a lot on Music of the Heart. The more famous you are for making kinds of outrageous scary films, the crossover audience will say, ‘I don’t think so.’”
Also in 1999, in the midst of directing, he completed his first novel, The Fountain Society, published by Simon & Shuster.
Craven again pushed the genre boundaries with the 2005 psychological thriller Red Eye, starring Rachel McAdams, Cillian Murphy and Brian Cox. And in 2006, he wrote and directed a romantic comedy homage to Oscar Wilde featuring Emily Mortimer and Rufus Sewell as a segment in the French ensemble production Paris Je T’aime.
His most recent written and directed film, My Soul to Take (2010), marked his first collaboration with Labunka, who also produced Scream 4.
Craven directed several other thrillers and horror movies during his career, including Swamp Thing (1982), Deadly Friend (1986) and The People Under the Stairs (1991).
Craven had recently signed an overall television deal with Universal Cable Productions and had a number of projects in development, including The People Under the Stairs with Syfy Networks, Disciples with UCP, We Are All Completely Fine with Syfy/UCP, and Sleepers with Federation Entertainment.
He also was executive producing the new Scream series for MTV.
Craven had recently written and was to direct the Thou Shalt Not Kill segment for The Weinstein Co.’s Ten Commandments miniseries for WGN America. And he is listed as an executive producer of The Girl in the Photographs, a horror thriller directed by his protege, Nick Simon, that will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month.
Wesley Earl Craven was born Aug. 2, 1939, in Cleveland. His father died when he was 5. Raised in a strict Baptist household, he graduated from Wheaton College with degrees in English and psychology, then earned a masters in philosophy and writing from Johns Hopkins.
He briefly taught English at Westminster College and was a humanities professor at Clarkson College, where he served as a disc jockey for the campus radio station.
Craven had an eye for discovering talent also. While casting A Nightmare on Elm Street, he discovered Johnny Depp. He cast Sharon Stone in her first starring role, for Deadly Blessing, and he gave Bruce Willis his first featured role in an episode of the 1980s version of The Twilight Zone.
He wed Labunka in 2004, his third marriage. Survivors also include his sister Carol, son Jonathan, daughter Jessica, grandchildren Miles, Max and Myra-Jean and stepdaughter Nina.
Craven was a nature lover and committed bird conservationist, serving as a longtime member of the Audubon California Board of Directors. He penned a monthly column, “Wes Craven’s The Birds,” for Martha’s Vineyard Magazine.
“I come from a blue-collar family, and I’m just glad for the work,” Craven said in his chat with Garris. “I think it is an extraordinary opportunity and gift to be able to make films in general, and to have done it for almost 40 years now is remarkable.
“If I have to do the rest of the films in the [horror] genre, no problem. If I’m going to be a caged bird, I’ll sing the best song I can.
“I can see that I give my audience something. I can see it in their eyes, and they say thank you a lot. You realize you are doing something that means something to people. So shut up and get back to work.”

DigiXstream is rooted for full customization and we don’t want to discourage anyone from customizing their Android boxes, but this can be dangerous grounds for anyone not supported directly by DigiXstream Shop.
